Building the local capacity to enable the creation of a greener aviation and less CO2 emission in airport activities is the purpose of the visit of the ICAO Technical Project Consultant, Mr. Didier Moukalan. Mr. Moukalan met with the Ministry of transport and the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) to discuss the potential support that the International organization can offer the country.
During his one week visit, Mr. Moukalan had an overview of the Seychelles initiatives to reduce the carbon foot print in aviation. In return this will be of great benefit for the small island developing state which its economy is driven by tourism.
The discussions with the Principal Secretary for the department of Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Alan Renaud was the opportunity to stress on the government’s support towards the SCAA’s effort to reach this objective.
This local objective is also in line with the ICAO’s CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting Reduction scheme from International Aviation) project through which the Seychelles is a voluntary member state. For the Seychelles Civil Aviation, reaching the CORSIA goals will be a big component in the country’s inspiration to effectively implement the national brand of being a small green destination.
