SEYCHELLES AND QATAR FORMALISE AIR SERVICES AGREEMENT IN MONTREAL
Seychelles’ Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, and Qatar’s Minister of Transport Jassim bin Seif bin Ahmed al-Sulaiti, signed a new bilateral Air Services on the sidelines of the 41st ICAO Assembly in Montreal.
Since resuming flights to Seychelles in December 2016, Qatar Airways has moved from 4th to 2nd place among all scheduled airlines operating to Seychelles and arrival figures by air have burgeoned more than 50% since 2019, making Qatar Airways Seychelles most improved performer. The growth has been underpinned by Qatar Airways serving the route on a wide-body aircraft since 2021.
“The signing of this important instrument strengthens and formalizes our relationship with the State of Qatar. The agreement has and will continue to facilitate the movement of people, goods, and services, via Doha which provides access to many markets across the globe, and the boom in numbers of travellers on the route show how important Doha has been in recovery efforts both in tourism and trade following the challenges of the pandemic,” said Minister Derjacques.
