In honor of lost mariners- SMSA organizes a memorial mass

In remembrance of lost seafarers and those who have passed away, the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA) organized a church service in their honor. The service which took place at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral today (Wednesday 28th September 2022) also coincides with the World Maritime Day commemorated on the 29th September.

The COGA committee of the National Assembly is delighted with improvements made at VTS

In a visit made at the Seychelles Vehicle Testing Station (VTS) by the end of this week (Friday 23rd September 2022), the COGA committee was delighted to see the improvements made to equipment, management of queues, staff working conditions and even on ways to modernize the station.

Farewell visit of French Ambassador, Mr. Dominique Mass to the minister of Transport

The outgoing French Ambassador to the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. Dominique Mass made a farewell visit to the Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques this morning (Thursday 22nd September 2022). He will reach the end of his tenure by the end of this month.

Two week training for the examination, assessment and certification of seafarer

The Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA) and the Seychelles Maritime Academy (SMA) opened a two week training for the examination, assessment and certification of seafarer in line with the IMO model course 3.12 and 6.09.

The course has been long awaited due to delays caused by the Covid 19 pandemic and the closure of borders.

The renewal of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement with the Israeli government promises more direct flights

More direct flights and business opportunities is the promise proposed by the signing of a Bilateral Air Services Agreement between the Ministry of Transport and the Israeli government.

The agreement was signed by the Principal Secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, Mr Alan Renaud, on behalf of the Minister for Transport and the newly accredited Israeli Ambassador to Seychelles, his Excellency Mr Michael Lotem.

Transport PS sheds more light on regulations for new vehicles

All new vehicles will undergo a first roadworthy test upon entering the country and thereafter they will be exempted from doing the test for the ensuing two years.

This was confirmed by the principal secretary for Transport, Patrick Andre, following recent decisions taken by the cabinet with regard to new regulations impacting on new vehicles entering the country and on car hire operators.
