The Ministry of Transport has announced the appointment of Sonny Payet as the new chief executive (CEO) of the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) effective July 1, 2022 for a mandate of three years.
The appointment was made by President Wavel Ramkalawan upon recommendation from the Ministry of Transport and the agreement of SPA’s board of directors.
According to the S.I. 20 of 2022 Road Transport Act, ‘Closing of Market Street to Vehicular Traffic Order, 2022’, no vehicles shall use the Market Street and Felix Paul Street during the following time intervals ‒ weekdays from 6.30am to 5.30pm and Saturdays from 6.30am to 3pm.
The lenders for the Port Victoria Rehabilitation and Extension Project (PVREP), along with the foreign consultants, are since Sunday in the country to conduct a week’s series of update meetings with the Ministry of Transport, the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) and other stakeholders involved in the project.

Hans Albert, the manager at VTS, said in an interview with the local media that this is all due to the understanding of their clients.
