The Ministry of Transport has said it intends to fast track the west coast road improvement project.
The project team met on March 28, 2022 for the purpose of finalising the project plan in accordance with way leaves obtained, and met again on April 7, 2022, this time along with the Minister of Transport, Antony Derjacques and sponsors in order to finalise the process of the project, which includes the department of land transport’s submission of relevant documents along with the project plan to the planning authority.
The Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Seychelles Land Transport Agency have said that resurfacing work of both primary and secondary roads on Praslin officially resumed on March 30, 2022.
Work began early in the morning on the Consolation road, starting at the Coco-de- mer hotel and is meant to reach all the way to Chateau de Feuilles hotel when completed.

As of yesterday March 31, 2022, Seychellois citizens no longer have to pay for a Travel Authorization when travelling home on their Seychelles passport, the Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, has announced.
This means that they will now submit their documents via the Seychelles Travel Authorization platform free of charge.
Illegal transfers remain a frustrating issue for local taxi operators
After years of complaining and providing evidence to the concerned authorities, precisely the Seychelles Licensing Authority (SLA) and the ministry responsible for transport, local taxi operators are still being robbed of their daily bread through illegal transfers by un-authorised individuals, or groups operating mainly at the international airport, and the Inter-Island Quay.

The Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority (SMSA) and the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), is hosting a one-week workshop with key local maritime stakeholders to review its legal framework and IMO conventions with regard to the final phase of the European Union Port Security and Safety of Navigation in Eastern and Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Project.
The workshop, being held at Double Tree by Hilton Hotel Seychelles-Allamanda Resort and Spa, Anse Forbans, was opened yesterday by the Minister for Transport, Anthony Derjacques.
New measures to manage the transport system on La Digue is to turn it into a green island, the principal secretary for transport, Patrick Andre, has said.
PS Andre made the statement yesterday during a press briefing on new amendments made to the La Digue Land Transport Policy.
Also present at the meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Transport’s head office, Botanical House, were senior policy analyst Corinne Adolph and the principal information and communication officer, Alisha Jean-Louis.
